Teachers, I know that you already have so much on your plate and sometimes adding one more thing to your classroom's schedule is just too much. I want to make adding Hedgy's Guide to Calm to your classroom's daily rhythm and routine as simple and fun as possible.
The best thing is that once YOU know how to use YOUR Super Powers calm YOURSELF down, you will naturally be able to guide YOUR students to calm along with Hedgy. The next three videos are recommendations to give you ideas about how you can successfully implement Hedgy's Guide to Calm self regulation program.
But, like I say in the videos, you know your students better than anyone else and how to meet your students' social and emotional needs. I am here to provide you with support, resources, and ideas. I would begin adding Hedgy's Guide to Calm to my classroom's daily rhythm and routine by singing the Hedgy Calm Action Song (w/o VISUALIZE) all day, every day.
I would introduce Hedgy by showing my students the Hedgy's Calm Action Cards and then put them up in my classroom for the students to see. I would then play the MP3 and begin to do the same actions as Hedgy on the cards. I would then have the students stand up and do the actions with me. After the students have heard the Hedgy Calm Action Song a few times, I would then encourage them to sing along and begin to come up with their own actions.
PLEASE sing with your students. You CAN sing and your students will love you for it. Turn off the MP3 and go for it. If your students see you having fun being come, they will have fun being calm too. The energy in your classroom will be positive and productive and classroom management will become effortless. The Hedgy Calm Action Song can be introduced over an extended period of time. There is no hurry to explain each of the Super Powers.
Have fun learning Hedgy Calm Action Song and once your students are comfortable, you will know the it's ready to introduce the individual Super Powers to Becoming a Super-Calm YOU and how to use them. Remember the tools in Hedgy's Guide to Calm are whole life skills and it's actually beneficial to take your time.
