This is Hedgy, the hedgehog.
Today, I used my Super Powers to calm myself down because I was frustrated and VERY Mad. My Mom told me that my time was up on my iPad and that made me upset because I didn't want to stop playing with my device.
I had a TOTAL tantrum!!
My Mom reminded me to use my Super Powers and I did!
I used my Super Power STOP. and stopped what I was doing.
I then used my Super Power LOOK. to look at how my body was responding to this situation.
- my shoulders were up to my ears
- I was clenching my fists
- I was clenching my jaw
- I was yelling
- I had tears in my eyes
- I was screaming
I also used my Super Power LISTEN. listen to the sounds my body was making.
- I could hear my teeth grinding
- I could hear my heart beating
- I could hear myself breathing
- I could hear myself screaming
- I could hear myself crying
I mindfully began to use my Super Power WIGGLE. by planting my feet on the floor and wiggling my toes.
And while I was wiggling my toes, I used my Super Power BREATHE.
- I breathed slowly in through my nose (like I was smelling a flower)
- I then breathed slowly out of my mouth (like I was blowing out candles on my birthday cakeI
did this FIVE TIMES!
While I was using my Super Power WIGGLE. and Super Power BREATHE., I began to use my Super Power VISUALIZE.
- I visualized being in the mountains next to a beautiful stream.
And just like that...I became a SUPER-CALM ME!
And I gently and calmly handing my iPad to my Mom.
